How to Connect to Mia from Windows NT 4
The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0

    SUMMARY
    This article explains how to configure Windows NT 4.0 Dial-Up for calling Mia.Net.

    In Windows NT 4.0, the configuration for connecting to ISPs is different from the configuration in Windows 95. There is no dial-up adapter in Windows NT 4.0, however, TCP/IP is still the main core component.

    The following instructions assume that you have already installed Remote Access (RAS) on your computer.

    To configure Windows NT 4.0 to connect to an Mia using PPP:

       
    1. Run Control Panel and click Network.

       

    2. Click the Protocols tab and if you cannot find TCP/IP, click Add.

       

    3. Select TCP/IP Protocol, click OK, and follow the instruction on the screen to provide the source files to install TCP/IP.

       

    4. On the Windows NT Desktop double click My Computer and choose Dial-Up Networking.

       

    5. Click OK to edit the phonebook if this is the first time you click dial-up networking.

       

    6. Under Name The New Phonebook Entry, type a name for the ISP, for example:

      Internet

      then click Next.

       

    7. Click Next again to skip that screen.

       

    8. Under Phone Number, please enter Mia's phone number(767-8855) and then click Next.

       

    9. Click Finish.

       

    10. In the Dial-up Networking box, click More and choose Edit Entry And Modem Properties.

       

    11. Click the Server tab (the dial-up server type should be PPP), and under Network Protocols, clear the IPX/SPX Compatible and NetBEUI options.

       

    12. Click TCP/IP Settings, click Specify Name Server Addresses.

       

    13. Type the correct DNS address.
      • Primary: 206.190.23.194
      • Secondary 156.46.10.20

       

    14. Click OK

       

    15. Click the Script tab and under After Dialing (Login), click Pop Up A Terminal Window and click OK.

      This option causes you to be prompted with a RAS Terminal window so you can enter the username and password requested by Mia.

       

    16. Click Dial to connect to Mia.Net.
